Bio: Molly Webb is a Researcher at Demos, the “think tank for everyday democracy” based in London. Her work focuses on science, technology, innovation and the environment.

Molly launched the new Demos website last year, which won the 2006 Prospect Magazine Best Think Tank Website of the Year award. Molly recently wrote” Flesh Steel and Wikipedia: How government can make the most of online collaborative tools” with Paul Miller, an essay for the Collaborative State collection (2007), and “South Korea: Mass Innovation Comes of Age” (2007), one of a series of pamphlets in the Demos “Atlas of Ideas” project exploring changing patterns of innovation across Asia, and new models of R&D collaboration. The results of her current project “The Disrupters: Lessons for low-carbon innovation from the new wave of environmental entrepreneurs,” will be published in June 2007.

Molly moved to London in September 2003 for an MSc course in Environmental Policy, Planning and Regulation at the London School of Economics. Her dissertation focused on the environmental and societal implications of nanotechnology, based on a series of interviews with key policy makers in Washington DC.

Prior to the course, Molly worked on e-commerce and content websites in Japan and the US, most recently as Director of Interactive Production at Oxygen Media in New York. She majored in Japanese at Georgetown University, graduating with a BSc in Languages and Linguistics.
